Average weekly time spent in mobile apps globally grew 20% in the first quarter, according to a new report by App Annie.
Time spent in apps in Italy grew 30% in March from the fourth quarter of 2019, while the U.S. and German had growth of 10% and France had growth of 15%.
In-app spending reached $23.4 billion in the first quarter, the largest quarter ever in consumer spending, according to the research.
Consumer spending on iOS grew 5% to $15 billion in the first quarter compared to the same quarter last year, while Google Play revenue grew 5% to $8.3 billion.
Spending on non-gaming apps accounted for 35% of spending on iOS and 15% on Google Play, with the largest spending coming from the U.S. and China.
