The annual Butterball Turkey Talk-Line officially opened for the holiday season today, and this year added the capability to interact through Amazon smart speakers.

The turkey help line already used text, email and live chat before adding an Amazon Alexa skill this year.

Consumers with an Amazon Echo device can say “Alexa, ask Butterball” to trigger the skill, and then ask their question. Videos also are available for devices including the Amazon Echo Show, Echo Spot and Amazon Fire TV Cube.

To enable the skill the first time, device owners need to say “Alexa, enable the Butterball skill,” just as they would enable another skill.

“The Turkey Talk-Line is focused on one-on-one help for cooking turkey, whether it’s a first-time cook or a 20-year Thanksgiving veteran,” stated Nicole Johnson, co-director of the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line. “Nothing will ever replace a phone call with an expert; but our goal is to reach cooks where it’s convenient for them and give them the confidence to ‘host Like a boss’ through as many means as possible.”

The Butterball Turkey Talk-Line started in 1981 and has been used by about 50 million consumers, according to Butterball.
