Avon has launched its Personalized Beauty app that includes a digital tool for representatives to determine a customer’s skin tone.

The app, built with Techkon, a color measurement company, poses a few questions designed to identify skincare needs and, combined with a photo of the customer taken by the representative, uses a calibration card to measure skin tone.

The information is processed through an algorithm that generates personalized product recommendations.

“We’re passionate about making high quality, high-tech innovation accessible to our beauty entrepreneurs and their customers,” stated Louise Scott, Avon’s chief scientific officer.

“Digital tools like these help make the personalized service of our representatives even more meaningful. Women don’t just want the latest product, they want real beauty insight tailored to their individual needs — not just for foundation, but for their whole beauty color regime.”
